What is The Institute of Education?

The Institute of Education was founded in 1969 by Mr Raymond Kearns. It began as a small tutotrial center and has grown to become the largest and leading tutorial college in Ireland. From it’s inception, Mr Kearns has always put the student of every decision we make.

Still wholly owned and run by the Kearns Family, Mr Kearns’ children, Peter and Una are now at the helm of The Institute and have overseen it’s expansion and modernisation into what it is today.

Our state-of-the-art science labs allow our Medical, Dental, Vet Science and Engineering Pathway students to get their critical lab experience on our campus. Lab practicals are run by our senior lab techinician team, this means your Chemistry, Biology and Phsyics teachers are free to focus on course content in the classroom while you can work on your skills in the lab.

Lab experience is crucial for Health Science & Engineering placement and greatly enhances your university applications.

Many of our students aiming for top universities like to put in extra study hours before, during or after scheduled classes. We have an abundance of study halls at The Institute, this photo is our main study hall, named after our founder Mr Kearns.

Your study halls are open seen days a week, and 7 AM – 7 PM Monday to Friday. This means you always have a safe and quiet place to work.

Design and Communications Graphic (DCG) is a popular subject with our Engineering and Computer Science Pathway students. DCG can use our computer lab and built in CAD software.

Our computer labs are available to you outside of scheduled class time to allow you practice with CAD software and our projects and assignments. Your study halls are open seen days a week, and 7 AM – 7 PM Monday to Friday. This means you always have a safe and quiet place to work.
